Sample Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) for Employee Use of Large Language Models on Company Devices

Large language models (LLMs) like ChatGPT can help firms create efficiencies in their workforce, however, their misuse can bring risks such as privacy breaches, intellectual property concerns, and quality control issues.

Since the core risk LLMs represent to firms is rooted in employee behavior, it is critical that firms provide their employees with clear guidance on when or if these tools are allowed to be used for business purposes. This can be communicated in an Acceptable Use Policy (AUP).

In this sample AUP, we provide an outline for cybersecurity leaders to create their own standards for acceptable use of LLMs.
